Filter Widget

Is there any functionality to add FILTER(s) to the dashboard as a widget, much like a chart?  I am looking for a dropdown widget that would appear directly on the dashboard.  I find the filters in the left panel are not user-friendly.

  Hi Jonathan,
   
  our dashboard's concept rely on cross-filtering so we haven't a proper filter chart but it can be implemented using parameters (and filters).
  
  

  so create a parameter called carrier name using the carrier_name column of table flights_2008_7m
  
  

  The from the filter pane we add this filter to the actual dashboard tab
  
  after that we create a new filter from the filter pane under the data source we want to filter (in the example the flights_2008_7m table) using the parameter we created before enclosed by ${[parameter name}
  

  Now the previously parameter's widget is able to filter the data
