Map selection disabled when adding a second layer

I have a point map that uses map selection as a filter to other charts.  I added a polygon as a second layer (background).  When I added the second layer the map selection tools were no longer available.  Is there any way to retain the point selection tools when adding a second layer?

  Hi Jonathan,

  When adding a map layer that isn't intended to expose any selections, it disables the map selection filters for the entire map. To re-enable them, you'll need to reopen the point layer and click apply.

  I'm currently checking internally to see if there's a feature flag that can be toggled to enable selections on other layer types as well.

  Please confirm if this explanation is clear and if implementing this workaround resolves your issue.
