Announcing new data science tools for Mac Preview!
Hello OmniSci community,
We are thrilled to announce the availability of our open data science tools now on the OmniSci Preview for Mac! :tada: :apple: :rocket:
This set of integrations with popular Python tools used for data science has been part of our enterprise offering for a while, and allows you to incorporate OmniSci seamlessly into your open data science workflow. This includes the OmniSciDB python API, Ibis, a pandas-like API that seamlessly integrates with OmniSciDB and allows you to write pythonic code to work with large datasets (no raw SQL needed!), and the outstanding open Python visualization libraries Altair and Holoviews.
To get started: * First, check out our blog post today talking about the new tools as well as a recap of all the data science ecosystem work we did in 2020!
-
Head on over to our Mac Preview page and download the installer. It installs a self-contained conda environment with all the tools. If you already have conda, you can alternatively update your existing installation and set up the
omnisci-datascience
environment separately. -
:warning: Make sure to download the updated version of OmniSci Mac Preview (5.5.1) as well, so you can immediately see the Jupyter icon as soon as you've finished installing the data science tools.
There are a number of examples in the notebooks folder in the installed Jupyter environment to get you started.
We're thrilled to see what you can do with OmniSci Immerse, and the data science tools. If you have questions or issues feel free to reach out to us here!
